U.S. Navy Threat/Simulation Validation

The Navy's Threat/Simulation Validation Office has the Capabilities to:

  • Assess Navy training and/or T&E requirements to determine the Threat Simulator Critical Parameters (TSCPs) associated with each air defense simulator, simulation, or actual threat weapons systems.
  • Collect and compile threat and simulator/simulation data into a Navy maintained database.
  • Compare TSCPs and specification data and/or measured performance data to determine deltas between the actual threat system and the simulator of the threat system.

  • Perform engineering analysis to identify the potential impacts the differences will have on the testing or training of EW systems.
  • Document the findings in validation reports in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Threat
  • Simulator Program Guidelines, OPNAV INST 3960.15a, NAVAIR INST 3960, and NAWCWPNS TM 7489-3.
    • In support of the capabilities defined above, the Government maintains the Navy Validation threat simulation database.
    • This database is developed within the framework of the DoD/Standard Validation Criteria and the Threat Definition Document to ensure common indexing of threat simulator critical parameters.
